Against pretty much every statistic that the broadcasters could come up with, going against them, they were able to put together a solid game seven against the Detroit Red Wings, and get the win.

Marc Andre Fleury put together a great game for his team with the save in the final seconds to hang on to the win. Great job! And Congrats to Sidney the youngest Captian to ever Hoist the cup!

overall amazing playoffs and a great finals! Looking forward to seeing the cup in Cole Harbour! (Again)

International Customers!

Hey,
Well yesterday Thursday, was a pretty slow day, Rainy and cold again. I set up for a bit anyways, with some minor success, making money is always good. But the cool part of today were the two guys who showed up to have a couple Big Dogs. They were from Germany visiting Nova Scotia and PEI for 14 days. First off they were so excited to see the cart, they said they hadn't seen anything like this anywhere! In Germany they do not have hot dog carts. Which right away I thought was strange because i thought Germany invented the Frank! anyways, the reason they don't have Carts is the government, I'm not sure exactly how the process goes but sounds like you need a million papers and permits to set up somewhere or, in their words, "The police will come and kick you off, and kill you!" ha But they loved my cart, taking pictures, asking info, i gave them the website to where i got it as well as my email in case they wanted to move to Halifax and Start their own.
Ha not only am i bring customers to RONA, I'm Bring people to Canada! :)

...Well I was reading in a book I have about things to do while your alive, and visit the Great Wall was one, got me interested in it, so I looked up exactly how long it is. Did you know it would stretch from Halifax to Vancouver then back to Manitoba?!?!? I knew it was Great, but never really compared it to something I could related to.

Talk about determination and patience it took hundreds of years, and they say upwards of 2 million slaves died building it, then when complete up to 1 million men would guard it...CRAZY!

..oh but in the end it never really worked, The barbarians, and Mongols, would just find a way, or bribe there way across. Good idea though!

Makes you wonder if the purposed American Fence between Mexico, would just be a stupid idea. People will always find a way.

5x the Airmiles!

Well RONA is having a five times the Air miles this weekend. Saturday was a busy day at the store, as well as at Go Nutz! Again the weather did not keep people away from having a hot dog.
Hoping today is just as busy!
Also Rigged up my umbrella, after a lot of early morning metal work :S had to drill some holes in the bottom of the cart, to anchor a base that the umbrella pole could slide into. Seems to work so far, the real test will be at the store actually setting it up.

Well off to another day at Go Nutz!

Times and Location!

Hey 
Just received a message from a buddy of mine, Matt. And he made a suggestion that I'm surprised I haven't addressed yet. Where I'm located and times I operate. 
first of times, look to be 11am - till 4pm through the week. Fridays and weekends I may go alittle later, like 6, or 7 I guess it all depends on how busy it is. This first week I'm still getting the feel for things...

so lets go with 11am - 4pm for the most part

Fortune Cookie

Hey Everyone!
My first Monday is done, and still things are going great, getting alittle more streamlined! Staff is loving it, hopefully they keep on loving it! Tomorrow I won't be set up :S I had a previous job to do, but will be back going nutz on Wednesday!
So I sat down yesterday, and had myself a Fortune cookie, my first one ive eating since I started the cart. And how ironic as to what it said, "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst" I've definatly being praying for the best and the business side, i've been preparing for the worst, it was my business motto on my fortune cookie. Included a picture.

First weekend 'Gone Nutz'

Hey
Well first weekend at Go Nutz is over, thanks to all who came out to show support, and grab a sweet dog. Considering being new, no signage, and Friday and Saturday being poor weather, it was all a success. As far as I can see if it keeps up, Go Nutz should be doing just fine!
I've found out that The Big Dog is the favorite, 1/4 pound all beef! then the sausage, then the Hot Dog.
Favorite condiment, I think is gonna be the relish, mustard and onions.
Yesterday I served a little girl her very first hot dog, she was loving it!
... until half way through she fell off the picnic Bench. :S
Overall a great weekend, Going in today, but will not be able to set up Tuesday, another commitment. But back at it for Wednesday and the remainder of the week!

Day One: "I'm Gonna need a bigger Cooler!"

So The Grand opening is over, for never have really operating a full day myself, the day went Pretty smooth! I'd say the months of research and mental preparation, has paid off. I had customers lined up before I Had even had the cart set up,(2 guys from lane!, credit that to the flyer's I Handed out earlier in the week)

Once the day got moving, I realized that I would be doing more business then I planned. People were coming out in groups, and it was more of a RONA staff crowd then anything. The human recourse rep, Nick, had said that the whole store was excited, and by the end of the day the store manager said the feedback was super positive, SO RONA Likes The dogs. Well the BIG Dog to be exact, as i ran out of the stock i had brought up.

Thanks to all those who showed up for a visit as well, Blair, Dahr, Nick, Mom, Dad, Nanny, Gran dad, Ken, and all the customers, and RONA Staff, who I hope to see more of over the coming months.

A few things I found is that people like to eat even in the rain ha, "I'm gonna need a bigger cooler...", the umbrella is gonna need some Tinkering to work, I might just go with the enclosed 4 post patio thingy haha. and The Big Dog is a hot seller!

2 More days Till I GO NUTZ!

Well Friday is the Grand opening, I'm not doing anything 'Grand' besides finally starting this business. Today I went around to the business around RONA and handed out flyers advertising the Opening on friday as well as just the Company. Encouraging staff to come on over to RONA and let me make them a dog! ha

If your in the area come on out! If your not in the area, I imagine you will be at one point this year, so you can stop by then!

Cart has arrived!

Well another task checked off!
after a couple weeks of delays, and set backs, the cart has arrived in all its glory!
hooked it up to the car, and drove it away.It's much lighter then I thought, it does a lot of bouncing around over even the smallest bumps in the road. Everything I had hoped for though!

The wiring will take an afternoon to hook up though

but I was able to get the Licence plate on no problem.

Well I met with a manager at RONA finally today after a bunch of emails and phone calls, and if all goes as planned, 'cause they haven't been lately, Grand opening now will be 

May 29th, 2009! at the RONA store in Bayer's Lake

We discussed Operating times, storage, ideas for more customers, and some paper work.

He told me some times that would be good and, we mixed that with what i wanted to work
These are the times:

• Monday    - Wednesday   11am - 4pm
  
• Thursday - Saturday        11am - 7pm
  
• Sunday                                   11am - 5pm
  

These times may change as I see fit, in accordance with busier times and slower times.
Lets hope its all busy times!!

A Few Delays...

So today was an interesting day,

first off cart should have arrived yesterday, hadn't. So I called the company that shipped it to me, and they sent it to Hamilton rather then Halifax. Not the Cart companies fault but the shipping company.
Okay 1 Delay.

Then Supposed to meet with Rona Store Manager, he was away today emergency. and other managers were not in, so that's post-poned till tomorrow.
Okay 2 Delays.

The insurance company called and said they had forgotten to get me to sign a piece of paper, well that's one trip over to the Dark side humph :S
Okay Delay number 3.
After all this today wasn't an entire slow one, I did, work for a few hours, as well as get the hitch on the car for a ridiculously cheap price!! 20% off because it took forever(4 weeks) to arrive!!

So after all that today I'd say was a success!

...Just Going Nutz That's all! :)

RONA, Is Going Nutz!

Hey everyone,

Well today's the day officially RONA and GO NUTZ came to an agreement, that entitles me to be set up outside the store in Bayers Lake!!
After a good 6 months of looking, asking emails, inquires, store managers, assistant managers, and Head office people, it all let to RONA the "How to People"

So right now, if i can get everything set up and ready to go,
...Drum roll please!!....... budabudabudabudbaubudbuabduabudbubad....

Grand Opening for Go Nutz will be Saturday May 23rd, 2009
at the RONA store in Bayers Lake!!

The How To People

So More Updates in the world of Go Nutz!

This morning I received an email from the store manager of RONA in Bayer's Lake, Basically he was returning an email i had sent the company purposing my idea of setting up in front of the store.
Well even though it took a little while to get back to me, he has, and he likes the idea and would like to talk it over!

So i may not be going Nutz on the commons anymore, but Going Nutz at RONA, the RONA has much more staying power, constant foot traffic any day of the week, and year, think it is a much better way for me to go.

I'm going to try and meet with him tomorrow and see what we can figure out!

Carts a Coming

So it's happened the Cart is on its way

I made the call today to get my cart custom fabricated in Ontario and shipped down to me
as early as next week. Pretty exciting, I've officially taken the step off the end of the diving board and taking the plunge for about a year now, after humming and hawwing at the end of the board 
It's a good feeling to see it actually moving forward!!

So I get the cart next week, and then apply for the spot on the commons, 

So looking ahead Grand opening for "Go Nutz" is looking to be sometime around the 22nd or 23rd of May

But I'll let you all know for sure when that will be.

Going Nutz

Hey Everyone

Long time since I've posted but definatly lots going on in the world of Go Nutz!

Just in the last couple days you may have read that Bud the Spud Is Selling his business. Sad News but i'm sure someone will pick it up and continue on the tradition. 
This prompted me to take action and call HRM again. Speaking with HRM i was told that there were spots open on the Commons, North Commons, between Robie and Agricola and also at the parking lot on Cogswell. I went down there and hung out to survey the area, and the Cunard spot interested me...Dog walkers, bikers, people walking home from Downtown, and weekend an

summer crowds playing baseball. ALSO Kiss Concert '09
So after she told me the price of the lease I felt i had to act. So today i picked up an application for the spot. And it looks like I could be "Going Nutz, on the Commons!"

ALSO i just recived an email from a posting i had online looking for private property and a New automotive Shop in bayers lake wants me to set up there in front of their shop, starting with their opening weekend of June 6th

SOOO things are looking good and theres no excuse for me now not to Go Nutz and get this Ball Rolling!

its a No Go, for Go Nutz

Well I called the Walmart DM, and he hadn't Received my proposal as of yet (3 weeks later) so I explained to him my idea, and he advised me to call the Head office of Wal-mart. He said that there may be a conflict of interest, with Mcdonalds.

SOOOO I called up Wal-mart Head office in Toronto where I was placed on hold to speak with Ross. I explained to HIM my idea and proposal and was quickly turned down as he said they have a licensing agreement with Mcdonalds and that they allow no other food services on the premises.
Another example of the giants not tossing a bone to the little guys.

but if thats there policy then thats there policy. I will move onto the next spot.
I'm going to attempt to Re open talks with Kent.

Progression, But Progress?

Well The other day i wrote up my proposal to Wal-mart to set up outside their store.
I handed it in as well. So that is in and its now a waiting game to see if they approve me, being outside their store! Here's hoping.

And also I have been in contact with the organizers of the Ideal Home Show at exhibition park. Its a LARGE home show for people looking to renovate, update or just purchase products for their homes. Its a Large crowd of people. The lady i talked with forward my email onto another lady, But Bev, the first lady i talked with said she loved the company name! :) that may work out to me a profitable weekend...
So like i said i'm making Progression, but untill i start hearing Yes's I'm not making Progress...

"The Hot Dog Proposal"

Well things with Wal-Mart are going alright so far. I guess they are the best looking prospect
as they are the first place, to not say no to the idea. The store manager listened to the idea, and then asked me to write up a proposal about the idea and submit it to the district manager.

• Step 1 Write Proposal - Done.
  
• Step 2 Deliver Proposal - Not Done.
  
  Then its hurry up and wait. Hopefully THIS is the Ticket to Go Nutz Beginnings!

Well if i get the proposal into him on Monday, chance are i will hear back on friday or the week after... SO we will see how this goes!

Still Working on Securing a spot

So, I've originally tried Future shop, but they are managed by SmartCentres Property and they have a no Vendor Policy. Then I tried Home Depot but they have a concession stand in the store. Then I moved onto Kent, and was told they and Irving companies have a no vendor policy as well. Then went over to Superstore, but they have a meals to go inside so I didn't bother with them, SO down the way to Wal-Mart I went where they said they were owned by the property company RCS. Who i have called but the person i need to speak with was busy...

Calling back now to see if i can park out front of Wal-Mart..
